“Evolution of journalistic practices on issues related to sexual violence among French daily press journalists in the post-Metoo context”
This communication looks at the process of legitimation, which is quite relative, of sexual violence issues in a French newspaper in the post-metoo context. It brings out that these topics changed their status from « anecdotes » to « social facts ». This communication questions the changes in newspaper journalist’s practices in the post metoo context. It shows that investigative practices have evolved, as well as the language used by journalists, the temporality of publishing and the way investigative journalists deal with anonymizing their sources. Datas are drawn from an ethnographic work and interviews with two different groups of journalists, that have been created in the newsroom after the metoo movement in order to report on sexual harassment and feminicides.
