The sexual regulation of advertising\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This presentation discusses the regulation of sexual representations in advertising by the \u201cAutorit\u00e9 de R\u00e9gulation Professionnelle de la Publicit\u00e9\u201d (ARPP). Based on an ethnographic research at the ARPP, we will return to the routines of this control, questioning the persistence of sexual representations, mostly female, in the public space, despite\u00a0a regulardenunciation. In order to understand the practical logics of contemporary control, we will first return to the decisive moment constituted by the \u00ab\u00a0porn-chic scandal\u00a0\u00bb at the turn of the 1990s. Then, in the light of this rhetorical crisis, we will come back to the routine control of advertising conducted within the ARPP: what representations are regulated, what are the criteria of regulation that make it possible to make the distinction between the \u201cdecency\u201d and \u201cdesire\u201d, and\u00a0between\u201cdesire\u201d\u00a0and \u201cobscenity\u201d.
