Welcome to the website of the Mediating Sexualities<\/span> international conference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For three days, from November 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0to 4th\u00a0<\/sup>2020, we will address together the\u00a0sexual politics\u00a0of media production and regulation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By bringing together about thirty researchers working from five different countries, this conference aims to answer questions such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– How are \u00ab\u00a0pornography\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0hate\u00a0\u00bb regulated on social media?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– How is platform capitalism changing pornography and sex work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– What representations of sexuality are considered acceptable on the billboards of French cities?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– How does sexuality gets scripted for cinema and television?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– How has #MeToo movement changed the journalistic coverage of sexuality and the gender dynamics inside press newsrooms?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mediating Sexualities also aims to show how much feminist and queer approaches<\/span> are important to understand the media ecosystems that organise our public experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference is supported by the Ar\u00e8nes and G\u00e9riico research units, and by the University of Lille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
